Benjamin Netanyahu at the UN: Israel will be a light and a blessing to the nations of the world.

The Israeli Prime Minister’s excellent speech at the UN with Finnish subtitles. It is always difficult to decide on a title when publishing such videos, but the title I have chosen reflects well the main theme of the speech. In Netanyahu’s speech last year, delivered just a couple of weeks before the horrors of October 7, he painted an almost messianic vision of how Israel could be a blessing to the world in the future, also in the fields of artificial intelligence. Listening to these speeches by Netanyahu, many of the prophet Isaiah’s visions of the coming messianic age literally come to life. However, this speech was mainly about the war in Gaza, not about artificial intelligence like last year’s speech.

It should also be understood that the reason why the Iran-Hamas-Hezbollah axis attacked Israel shortly after Netanyahu’s previous UN speech is that Netanyahu and the Biden administration had publicly touted their negotiations with Saudi Arabia for a historic peace treaty and normalisation of relations, which had strengthened Israel’s international standing and legitimised its existence among many Muslim countries. To thwart this development, the Iran-Hamas-Hezbollah-Houthi axis launched the most destructive terrorist attack and attempted genocide in Israel’s history.
