On 5 July, a separate from the May coronation, ceremony was just held in Scotland where Charles III was also crowned King of Scotland. When Charles arrived at the coronation, the crowd in the background had gathered not to cheer him on but to protest with yellow signs reading “Not my king!”. The same angry shouts could be heard in the background as Charles got out of his car for the coronation ceremony. This fits Daniel’s description of this unpopular king: “And in his estate [on the throne] shall stand up a vile person [Hebrew bazah, meaning despised], to whom they shall not give the honour of the kingdom.” But while the people did not want him to be crowned even the King of Scotland, the Scottish news papers were already crowning him the king of the world. The Scottish tabloid Daily Record wrote on its front page headline: ‘Our planet faces climate catastrophe. Yet, at a time when we need bold leadership, Rishi Sunak and his Tory government are burying their heads in the sand. Global figures must stand up and make their voices heard. When Charles celebrates his coronation in Scotland, he must make his mark in history by being KING OF THE WORLD.”

By the way, this “king of the world” (not my king either) will meet President Biden at Windsor Castle next Monday, before the President’s arrival in Finland on 13 July. The visit will have great significance for foreign and security policy as Finland became the newest member of NATO on 4 April. It will be interesting to see how events unfold from here. Did Finland’s NATO membership accelerate or delay the start of World War 3? Or has World War 3 already started? Will the decades-old prophetic visions of Russia’s occupation of Norway still come true? Incidentally, David Wilkerson’s vision of Russia’s occupation of Norway also talks about Scotland’s secession from the UK.

Is this to be expected after the unpopular Charles’ rise to power, when Scotland has long dreamed of independence and even held referendums in favour of it . If Scotland were to declare independence, it would lead to the break-up of the UK as a whole, and Charles would lose his crown, at least in Scotland. Or would it lead to a deeper constitutional crisis and even a redefinition of the role of the monarchy as a whole? Would that also be the right time to consider redefining Charles’ role as ‘king of the world’?
